a non-profit, tax-exempt organization committed to the art and esoteric principles of Professor Henry Seishiro Okazaki.

Shoshin Ryu Yudanshakai was founded by Professor Michael Chubb to provide an educational, athletic, and recreational outlet to aid the physical, moral, and social development of adults and children within the framework of the sport and martial art of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu.  more>>>

The purpose of this announcement is to inform all of you that as of June 1, 2022 we successfully restructured the organization under new management in an effort to better serve the community.

Moving forward, we will operate as Shoshin Ryu Yudanshakai, headquartered in Orange County, California as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with Professor Kevin Dalrymple serving as President.

We’re truly excited about possible growth and new opportunity that the future holds. Thank you for your loyalty and your continued support of the organization.

Often referred to as “The Gentle Art”, jujitsu is a system of self-defense designed to overcome aggression through the utilization of escapes, joint manipulations, throws, and constriction techniques. Relying on fundamental principles of balance rather than strength, jujitsu is ideally suited to everyone, regardless of age, sex, or physical abilities. The techniques are intended to address all forms of aggression, yet provide the defender with the ability to determine the level of response appropriate for the circumstances encountered. Students are taught a system of self-defense through which they will develop self-confidence.

However, through an appreciation of the legal, medical, and moral implications of the use of any martial art, they will learn humility, honesty, obedience, kindness, sincerity, courtesy, patience, discipline, and respect.

While the heart of the curriculum remains the traditional techniques of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, Shoshin Ryu incorporates additional techniques developed from the original teachings of Professor Okazaki to address the ever-changing circumstances of today’s society, providing an increasing measure of adaptability, and transforming jujitsu into a “living art”.
